Coasteering

Coasteering

This is a high energy activity which builds self-confidence as much as fitness. Students follow the foot of the cliffs, climbing and scrambling over rocks, through gullies and rock pools and jumping into the sea, all supported by our qualified instructors.

Learning outcomes

  • Self-confidence
  • Resilience
  • Challenge and risk
Kayaking

Kayaking

Groups will learn basic skills and paddling techniques from our British Canoe Union qualified instructors who are out with them at all times. We use fun games and challenges to incorporate their team working and communication skills whilst all the time building confidence and resilience.

We take groups out kayaking on the sea and local lakes. Where activities are taking place on the sea they are tide and weather dependent. Contingency plans are always in place for use where necessary.

Learning outcomes

  • Learn a new skill
  • Confidence
  • Resilience
  • Teamwork
  • Communication
Raft-building

Raft-building

This is a fun and potentially highly competitive activity. Groups use logs, rope and barrels to build their own rafts in teams under the watchful eye of our instructors. The aim is to launch and use them to reach a target location - without getting wet. This proves illusive to many groups and is of course half of the fun.

Safety is paramount; participants are required to wear helmets and bouyancy aids at all times.

Learning outcomes

  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Leadership
Slippery slide

Slippery slide

This brings out the kid in all of us! What better way to cool off on a hot day or just to do on any day. Hours of fun sliding down the hill as fast as you can. No skill required!

Learning outcomes

  • Fun
  • 100% fun
  • And more fun
Coracle building

Coracle building

Coracle building is little sister to raft-building and more suitable for groups of a younger age range. Each team gets given a wire frame and some plastic sheeting along with things to fix it all together to create their own coracle. The aim is to get yours floating and stay floating so you remain dry. The challenge has been set!

Learning outcomes

  • Teamwork
  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
