South Africa Open Expedition highlights

  • Safaris, game viewing and walking trails: Safaris and walking trails in game reserves in the heart of Zululand, in search of the 'Big Five': lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard.
  • Environmental Awareness Course: Experience animals, reptiles, spiders and snakes up close. Learn about medicinal plants, animal tracking, spoors and anatomy. Visit Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, home to hippos and crocodiles.
  • Pongola River Camp: A unique river camp on the banks of the Pongola. Explore the river by canoe, try your hand at fly-fishing for the mighty tiger fish and enjoy the freedom and beauty of this unspoilt part of Africa.
  • Marine and coastal ecology at The Kosi Bay Nature Reserve: Tropical paradise of crystal clear blue water, giant sand dunes, mangrove swamps and sycamore fig forests. Home to hippos, crocs and many tropical fish. A chance to 'spear fish' in traditional fishing traps handed down from generation to generation, some nearly 1,000 years old.
  • Community project: a two-way cultural interaction which benefits local children, the community and the expeditioners as they step into a different world by undertaking voluntary work in local communities.
South Africa Open Expedition reviews

South Africa Open Expedition reviews

"Thank you so much for the insanely amazing three weeks I had in South Africa. They were better than I could have ever imagined and wish I was doing it again. Thanks so much to Steve, Sarah and Dave who made the experience even more amazing by providing loads of laughter and positivity. Without ASDAN and Fee and the team I would have never had this experience, so I am extremely thankful. The trip has made me travel crazy now and I'm already planning my next."
